Florence Joan Duecker age 85 of Lansing, Michigan passed away Friday morning June 16, 2017 at the Medilodge of Lansing in Lansing.
She was born April 20, 1932 in Sturgis, Michigan daughter of the late Ralph and Geneva (Hackett) King.
Joan resided with her daughter in Lansing for the past six years. Prior to moving to Lansing she lived in Burr Oak where she was a graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1950.
On April 29, 1957 she married Victor Lee Duecker in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He died February 17, 1998.
Joan had been employed by Sturgis Newport Business Forms for over 35 years until the company closed. She also worked in the sewing and fabric department at Walmart in Sturgis for a short time.
She was a member of the Burr Oak Missionary Church. While working she was very active in the local union where she served as Steward and Secretary for several years. Joan had a passion for reading easily reading a book a day and she enjoyed flower gardening, horseback riding and camping with her family.
She is survived by two daughters: Larene M. (Charles) Bradow of Lansing and Vicki Hartman; one son: Andy Duecker of Port Clinton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and expecting her 7th in September; one sister: Linda Dow of Three Rivers and one brother: Larry King of Houston, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter: Lee Ann Duecker; one grandson: Scott Clinansmith and one sister: Marilyn Wadsworth.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Rodger Moyer of the Sturgis Evangelical Church will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
