Amanda Kay Edel Richmond age 31 of Raleigh, North Carolina and a former resident of Portage passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning March 25, 2015 at her home.
She was born April 12, 1983 at the Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah daughter of Jim and Kelly (Parkinson) Edel.
Amanda resided in Raleigh for the past 4 years. She was a longtime Portage resident and a graduate of Portage Northern High School with the class of 2001. The first 16 years of her life were lived in Northern Utah.
On December 18, 2013 she married the love of her life, Ryan S. Richmond in Butler, Tennessee.
Amanda was a cosmetologist, nutrition consultant and worked in the hospitality industry.
She enjoyed food, cooking and loved caring for animals and often volunteered her time helping in any way needed at animal shelters.
Her beauty, smile and humor were adored by all who met her.
Amanda is survived by her husband: Ryan Richmond; parents: Jim and Kelly Edel of Portage; two sisters: her twin sister Bethany (David) Flermoen of Portage and Lauren (Mitch) Raskovich of Batavia, Illinois; grandparents: Ted and Joan Edel of Ash Fork, Arizona and Ted and Carol Parkinson of Ludington; father and mother-in-law: Paul and Lori Richmond of Vicksburg; three brothers-in-law: Ben Richmond, Elijah Richmond both of Vicksburg and James S. Lucas of Waterville, Maine and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday and 12:00 – 1:45 P.M. Monday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Amanda Edel Richmond will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Fred Goebert will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
